Volunteer Driving Program Provides Round Trip Travel for Medical Appointments
Overview:
Pre-arranged transportation to surrounding communities for medical care and appointments fills a need and creates a solution.
The Community Services has a volunteer driver program so if you need to go into [Community X] for an appointment, it'll cost you $5...it has to be arranged beforehand and if you have stops on the way home it is an extra two bucks or something. And they get funding through that, they apply through the Columbia Basin Trust like on our dot night, we have dot night once a year... so that is through Community Services and they offer the volunteer driver program and you say I have an appointment on this day and they come and they pick you up and drive you in for your appointment and bring you home...[to] [Community X, Y, Z]. So, if you have a dentist appointment, because we don't have a dentist in town, so if you have a dentist appointment in [Community X], they will drive you in to the dentist.
