Physician Advocates for Use of 'Frost Bite Drug' in Their Community
Overview:
Local Physician fights for the use of 'Iloprost,' which can help dilates blood vessels and improves blood flow following frost bite. This new drug was only starting to be considered in BC in January 2020.
We have a frost bite drug. One of the [only] two places in North America that have [federally regulated] “Iloprost,” us and Yellowknife. Our former chief of staff had an incident where his patient has been in the back country for several days and lost all his toes so he advocated to get it [and] we had a patient the next week who benefited from it.
